If you want to explore some of the end-game activities in Diablo 4, Nightmare Dungeons are your best bet. These are basically existing dungeons modified for higher difficulty featuring stronger monsters and will offer you high-tier rewards as well. You can turn only some of the dungeons into their Nightmare counterpart, and in order to do that, you will need Nightmare Sigils.

In addition to this, Nightmare Dungeons have extra difficulty scaling and will also feature random Afflictions to make your run in the hell even harder. If you don't know how you can get Nightmare Sigils in Diablo 4, here is a detailed guide on finding them and using them to upgrade dungeons.

How To Get Nightmare Sigils In Diablo 4 & Unlock Nightmare Dungeons

You will not be able to find Nightmare Sigils and unlock Nightmare Dungeons in the normal world. Nightmare Sigils and Nightmare Dungeons mechanics will be available for you to unlock after you have cleared the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon.

Now, you will have to switch to World Tier 3: Nightmare, where you will be able to get Nightmare Sigils and turn dungeons into Nightmare Dungeons. Here are all the ways to get Nightmare Sigils:

  • Loot Drops: While exploring World Tier 3: Nightmare, you might find Nightmare Sigils as loot by completing bounties, special events, and more. One of the best ways out of them is completing Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers.
  • Nightmare Dungeons: Nightmare Dungeons will require different Nightmare Sigils to get unlocked. If you have found Nightmare Sigil for a particular Dungeon, you can turn it into Nightmare Dungeon, and there are chances that you might get Nightmare Sigil for another Nightmare Dungeon.
  • Crafting: You can also craft Night Sigils at the Occulist using Gold and Sigil Powder; however, you will have to complete at least one Nightmare Dungeon to unlock this option.

Once you have a Nightmare Sigil, you will simply have to go to the inventory and activate it by going to the consumables tab. This will turn a dungeon into Nightmare Dungeon, and it will start highlighting on the map. You can then go there and complete it alone or with your friends.
